Six Feet Under Pub and Fish House
Six Feet Under, aptly located across the street from Historic Oakland Cemetery, is a bustling but relaxed, casual neighborhood seafood restaurant. Six Feet Under opened in 2002, when Grant Park may have been charming—but certainly wasn’t the center of culinary circles. Now, as proprietor Nancy Mitchell points out: “Grant Park, Inman Park, & East Atlanta have some of the best restaurant options in the city.” That is likely true. And Six Feet Under is a stand out, with stellar seafood and one of the best rooftop terraces around.
The Mitchells chose to open Six Feet Under on Memorial almost 15 years ago, because they wanted to take a chance on their amazing neighborhood. They work and live in the neighborhood, so their lives and their livelihood are comingled with the community here. The Mitchells love Southeast Atlanta for its proximity to so much of what Atlanta has to offer. They appreciate the quaint neighborhood feel of Ormewood Park, the beauty of expansive Grant Park, and the support of their friends and neighbors that frequent Six Feet Under. The Mitchells chose to sponsor the Ormewood Park Meet the Makers Festival as a way to thank their community for supporting Six Feet Under.
Quirky Bonus Question: If Six Feet Under were a superhero, what would its name be?
Gazpacho Man. We really did have a friend dress up as Gazpacho Man (with our dog as his sidekick) during a festival. Pretty sure we were launching a new menu item (Gazpacho!) and thought Gazpacho Man would be a funny way to hand out samples.
